Lexi's Tips
Hi, I’m Lexi and welcome to my garage where I do DIY car repair and other fun projects. Today, I’m going to change an air filter on a 2002 Ford Mustang. You know, there’s just something so fun about fixing cars. It’s hands-on and you get that feeling of accomplishment. AND you save money repairing it yourself. I mean, just for those reasons, I try to do many small repairs myself. Changing your car’s air filter is a low-cost way to keep your car’s engine running smoothly.

For the repair, I’m using an Air Filter specific to my vehicle, wrenches, safety glasses, and gloves. Now let’s head over to the car.

To prevent any potential injuries, it's always a good idea to disconnect your car battery before working on your car.

Instructions:

  1. First locate the air filter housing.
  2. Then remove the retaining bolt.
  3. Unlatch the retaining clips on the filter housing.
  4. Lift the filter housing up to access the filter.
  5. Remove the old filter and replace with the new one.
  6. Align filter housing with retaining clips and latch again.
  7. Tighten retaining bolt.

So there you have it. Changing your air filter is easy and fun. You should change your air filter about every 15,000 to 30,000 miles or 24 months depending on where you drive. If you drive on dirt roads, change it more frequently.

Well, all that car talk has made me hungry. It’s time for me to go put something tasty on the grill.

I’m so glad you stopped by today. You can contact me anytime on my social media. I love hearing about your latest DIY projects and always welcome your questions and comments. I look forward to hearing from you. Til next time!
