However, check your vehicle owner's manual for specific details. The hot summer months can make your car can feel like an oven. Make sure your car's air conditioning system is in great shape so you don't melt in the summer heat while cruising in your car.

Hi, I'm Lexi and welcome to my garage where I do DIY car repair and other fun projects.

Have you ever gotten into your car on a hot summer day, turned on the A/C and you were like "How come this isn't cooling? The air does not feel like it's cooling. It just keeps blowing hot air never seeming to cool down." Well, it could be that you actually have a small leak in your A/C system. It may be that the refrigerant has slowly leaked out of the system and needs to be recharged.

So today, I'm going to show you how to fix that. It's a really easy fix.

Here's what you'll need:
A/C Pressure Gauge
Recharge Hose
Can of A/C refrigerant that fits your car (check your owner's manual for correct refrigerant type)
Gloves
Safety Glasses

Alright, so let's take all of our stuff and head out to the car.

Instructions:

Start your car and turn on your AC. Set the AC on maximum cooling and high fan. Run the system for about 3 minutes before proceeding.
Now leave your car running with the AC system on throughout the next steps.
Open your hood and locate the low-side port of your car's AC system. Refer to your owner's manual for additional help if needed. When working on your car, watch out for moving parts.
Remove protective cap on the low-side port.
Begin by checking the AC's pressure. Attach pressure gauge to low-side port according to instructions on gauge. Take a few readings to make sure your read is accurate. If pressure is low, you'll need to add refrigerant.
Follow instructions on recharge hose for attaching hose to refrigerant can. Attach coupler to low-side port and dispense refrigerant per instructions. Adding refrigerant to your system can take approximately 5 to 15 minutes depending on how much refrigerant is needed. Shake can every 2 to 3 seconds while adding refrigerant. The can and hose will get cold as the refrigerant dispenses.
Add enough refrigerant as needed to bring pressure back to normal range. Check pressure periodically with gauge. Just be sure not to overcharge your system.
Put protective cap back on the low-side port.

OK, so that's all there is to it. Your AC should feel so much cooler now! You'll notice the difference instantly! Now you'll be able to drive around in your cool car on a hot summer day without any troubles.
