- UPF 50+ Sun Protection rated shirt can help provide UVB/UVA protection from the sun
- UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) measures how much UV radiation (both UVB and UVA) can penetrate fabric. The UPF number indicates what fraction of the sun's UV rays can penetrate the fabric. The higher the UPF rating, the better the protection. Example: Clothing made of UPF 50 fabric allows 2 percent (1/50th) of the sun's UV radiation to reach the skin and blocks 98 percent of the sun's rays. Commonly referred to as SPF clothing (Sun Protection Factor), it's actually UPF clothing.

- If unsure about fit, order up one size. For sun protection, wearing loose-fitting clothing is preferable. Whatever the UPF rating, if the fabric is stretched (for example when wearing tighter clothing) or if your fabric gets wet, the fabric can become more transparent and can reduce protection by allowing more UV light to penetrate the fabric.
